Metal CNC Laser Cutting technology has revolutionised the sheet metal and heavy fabrication industry and Rockpress has been at the forefront of this technology from the start. Our traditional laser cutters use nitrogen, oxygen and compressed air cutting technology, which provides complete accuracy, clean cutting and minimal heat residue. The maximum sheet size we can accommodate is 6000mm x 2500mm.
In February 2020 we took delivery of a state-of-the-art TRUMPF TruLaser 3060 8kW Fibre Laser, the TruLaser 3060 offers oversize format processing, multi-sheet processing and highspeed process for faster cutting .this latest acquisition is a welcome addition to our laser cutting capabilities. Rockpress also have a 3030 6kW fibre laser with RotoLas tube cutting attachment, as for the TruLaser 3060, this machine uses an optical cable as opposed to the traditional CO2 Lasers. The 3030 and the 3060 enables us to cut Copper and Brass and has a superior cutting quality and speed, in particular on lighter gauges. Another major advantage the fibre laser technology has, is in the cutting of Aluminium, the conventional CO2 lasers will generally leave dross (in particular on heavy gauges) on the cut edge which requires secondary work to remove. These new fibre lasers will enable us to cut up to 25mm thick Aluminium with no secondary work required.
As all cutting instructions and patterns are saved to each machine’s computer memory, repeat work can be completed quickly and with accuracy that is identical to any previous work. The advantage of CNC Laser Cutting over Guillotining is in the finish. CNC Laser Cutting is clean and precise – leaving no burrs on edges and corners of the scored material. Rockpress can even incorporate a discreet radius into the process to completely eliminate sharp corners.
We can cut a variety of materials including Carbon steel, Mild steel, Stainless steel, Zinc Coated steel, Galvanised steel, Aluminium, Copper and Brass. We also undertake artistic and custom jobs including wall art and decorative screens.
